Alejandro Pena is a retired professional baseball player who was born in the Dominican Republic. Pena played as a pitcher in the MLB and enjoyed much success while playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves. Pena is a right-handed player and was selected by the Dodgers in 1978 as an amateur free agent. Pena played in the minors for quite some time before being able to move up to the majors in 1981. During his first season in the MLB, Pena was able to come up with an ERA of 2.84. He ballooned to 4.79 in his second season but was able to post an ERA of 2.48 and posted a 12-6 win-loss record in 1984. Pena was named as the National League ERA champion during the 1984 season. Pena was an integral part of the Dodgers team when it went all the way to the World Series in 1988 to battle it out with the Oakland Athletics. Pena pitched one game during the World Series and was credited with the win for that game. Pena again got to play in the World Series but for the Atlanta Braves in 1995.
