Andres Galarraga is a retired professional baseball player. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, he appeared in the Venezuelan Winter League, the minor leagues and then finally in the Major League Baseball in 1985 to 2004. Galarraga played as a catcher and third baseman for the Leones del Caracas. It was his team manager who recommended Galarraga to the Expos. He signed with the Montreal Expos in 1979. He was named into his first All-Star game that year. In 1989, he was able to make his first grand slam, first steal and received his first Gold Glove award. He won his second Gold Glove in 1990. Galarraga also won the 1993 and 2000 NL Comeback Player of the Year, and the 1998 and 1996 Gold Glove Award.
