A strong and energetic former Major League Baseball third baseman, Bill Mueller is currently working as a special assistant to Dodgers general Manager Ned Colleti. Mueller was born on March 17, 1971 in Maryland Heights, Missouri. He had studied in De Smet Jesuit High School. Mueller was then drafted by the San Francisco Giants during the 15th round of 1993 amateur draft. He made his debut in 1996 and was traded to the Chicago Cubs just before the 2001 season. But then, Mueller came back to San Francisco in September 2002. He was signed by the Boston Red Sox as a free agent before the 2003 season. He had set career highs during the power department in that season where he played 45 doubles and 19 home runs. Mueller contributed almost half of his career home runs in his three years with Red Sox. He had remarkably developed a reputation for consistency throughout the major leagues. He also accomplished a batting average between .290 and .295 in five out of his ten years in the major league. He has joined in Los Angeles Dodgers in 2006 season yet played only 32 games before he went on his third knee surgery.
