Bill White is a former American professional baseball player. He was born in Lakewood, Florida. White both batted and threw left handed and played as first basemen for a few teams in the Major League Baseball such as New York Giants, St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies and the St. Louis Cardinals. Before he could make it to the major league, White made a few stints in the minors playing for the Danville Leafs of the Carolina League. He was then called up by the New York Giants in 1956 and made his professional debut on May 7, 1956. White did not play the following 1957 season, he returned to the Giants in 1958 before joining the St Louis Cardinals in 1959 where he played for seven seasons. White signed with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1966 to play for a few seasons and rejoined back to the Cardinals in his last MLB season. He had his last game on September 22, 1969. Throughout his thirteen year career, White made numerous achievements in the major league, among were being an eight-time selection in the All Star Games, 1964 World Series champion with the St. Louis Cardinals and seven-time Gold Glove Award winner. After retiring from his playing career, White became a full-time sportscaster for eighteen years. White then served as president of the National League from 1989 to 1994.
