He hails from Havre de Grace, Maryland and played in the Major League Baseball from 1987 to the 1998 seasons. A right-handed batter and thrower, he had his debut in the major league on July 11, 1987 where he was managed by his father, Cal Ripken, Sr. He was a member of the Baltimore Orioles team until the 1992 season and played as a second baseman for a few other teams. He became part of the Texas Rangers in 1993 and left the team in 1997 to play for the Cleveland Indians in 1995. He also had a stint with the Detroit Tigers in 1998 as a utility infielder who had shown great versatility in his play. He logged .247 batting average and made 20 home runs and made 229 runs batted in. His last game in the Major League Baseball was on July 13, 1998 for the Detroit Tigers .
