Robert Lynn “Bob” Welch is a retired professional baseball player. He played as a starting pitcher in the Major League Baseball and spent his 17- year career playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Oakland Athletics. He hails from Detroit, Michigan and was born on November 3, 1956. His collegiate career was spent with Eastern Michigan . He debuted in the MLB for the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 20, 1978 and in the same year became famous by striking out Reggie Jackson in Game 2 of the World Series. His last game as a player was on August 11, 1994 and upon retirement served as a pitching coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2001 World Series and for the Netherlands team in the 2006 World Baseball Classic.
