Brian Lee Hunter is a retired Major League Baseball player who was born on March 5, 1971 in Portland, Oregon. He attended Fort Vancouver High School before he went to play professionally. In 1989, he was drafted by the Houston Astros as a 35ht overall pick in the 1989 Major League Baseball amateur draft. He started playing in the Gulf Coast League Astros in 1989. He played for the Asheville Tourists of the South Atlantic League for the next three seasons. He also appeared in the Florida State League from 1991 to 1992. He spent one season with the Class AA Jackson League of the Texas League and then joined the Class AAA Tucson Toros of the Pacific Coast League in 1994. Hunter finally made his Major League Baseball debut on June 27, 1994 for the Houston Astros and made a first base hit in his debut game. He stayed with the Astros until the 1996 season and on December 10, 1996, he was traded to the Detroit Tigers for Trever Miller, Jose Lima, Brad Ausmus and Daryle Ward. He also played for the Seattle Mariners and led the American League in stolen bases with 44 and then was signed by the Colorado Rockies. He also became part of the Cincinnati Reds and signed with the Philadelphia Phillies. He went back to the Houston Astros and ended his career in the 2002-2003.
