Also known as Twiggy, Chuck Hartenstein is a retired professional baseball player in the MLB. He was a right handed relief pitcher and he became active from 1966 to 1977. He was born in Seguin, Texas and attended the University of Texas at Austin. Hartenstein was a pitcher for the Texas Longhorns and helped the team get to the College World Series of 1962 and 1963. After he was able to graduate from Texas, Hartenstein was signed as an amateur free agent by the Chicago Cubs in 1964. Hartenstein was able to appear for the Cubs in 1966 and was able to record an ERA of 1.93 for that season. In 1967, he posted a 3.08 ERA and a 9-5 win-loss record. In 1969, Hartenstein was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for Joe Campbell and Manny Jimenez, and was take off the waivers by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1970. Within a month from his acquisition, Hartenstein was traded to the Boston Red Sox and then purchased by the Chicago White Sox from the Red Sox by the end of that year. With the White Sox, Hartenstein was able to come up with a 9-5 record and pitched in that season with an ERA of 3.08.
