Doug Flynn is a retired Major League Baseball player who became active in the 1970's to the 1980's. He started playing professionally when he signed with the Cincinnati Reds in 1971 as an amateur free agent. However, he would take part in the team's 1975 and 1976 World Series victories. Flynn was acquired by the New York Mets in 1977 in what would be known as the “Midnight Massacre”. He played first as an infielder and then as second baseman after Felix Milan's retirement in 1977. In 1980, Flynn won his National League Gold Glove award. He also hit a triples in a game against the Expos in August 1980. He was traded to the Texas Rangers in 1982 but his rights were purchased by the Montreal Expos in the middle of that season. He stayed as infielder with the Expos until in 1985 when he was released. Flynn decided to sign with the Detroit Tigers before retiring the next season.
