Early Wynn is a former American pro baseball player who played as pitcher for the Washington Senators, Cleveland Indians and the Chicago White Sox in the Major League Baseball. He was born in Hartford, Alabama and graduated from Geneva County High School. Wynn, who batted with both of his hands and threw with his right, began his pro baseball career after he was signed by the Washington Senators in 1937 as amateur free agent. Wynn then made his major league debut on September 13, 1939. Wynn signed with the Senators at a young age of seventeen, and after only three appearances with the Senators in 1939, Wynn flourished in 1941, winning seventy two games prior to being dealt to Cleveland Indians in December of 1948. In 1958 Wynn became the first pitcher in the Major League Baseball to lead the league in strikeouts in successive years with different teams. In 1959, Wynn won the Cy Young Award with the White Sox. He had his final game on September 13, 1963 for the Indians. Wynn was then inducted into the Pro Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972. Early Wynn passed away at the age of 78 on April 4, 1999 in his home in Venice, Florida.
