Frank Ramsey is a retired National Basketball Association player who hails from Corydon, Kentucky. He spent his nine years in NBA with the Boston Celtics which he helped in its then blooming championship streak. He played collegiately at University of Kentucky where he also served as a baseball varsity athlete. He won one NCAA Championship while playing for the university and after finishing his studies at the school became qualified for the NBA Draft. He scored a total of 1, 344 points as a college basketball athlete. He was a first-round pick of the Boston Celtics in the National Basketball Association Draft in 1953. He played his rookie season from 1954 to 1955 and then worked for the military service for a while. He returned to play for the Celtics and became part of the team's championship seasons in 1957, and from 1959 to 1964 seasons. Together with his teammates Bill Rusell , K.C. Jones and John Havlicek, they contributed much for the team's success. According to statistics, his greatest season was in 1958 when he logged 16.5 PPG average and hit 7.3 rebounds per game in more than ten appearances that season. He also worked as a head coach for the American Basketball Association team, Kentucky Colonels. At present, he works as a president in a bank located at Dixon, Kentucky.
