Hank Greenberg Jerseys

Henry Benjamin Greenberg, popularly known as Hank Greenberg, was a former player in the Major League Baseball who functioned mainly as a first baseman. He was born on January 1, 1911 and hailed from New York, New York. He started out as minor league player for three years before he began his major league career that lasted for nine years. In seven years of his career, he was rather an active player and an aggressive one, too. He played for Detroit Tigers in 1930 and for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1947. He missed three years of his career in the league because of the World War II where he rendered military service. Reviews name him as one of the few baseball players with most powerful hits during his time. In 1938, he recorded 58 home runs which reached the record of highest homeruns made in one season from 1927 to 1961. He was included in the All-Star team five times and was awarded twice as the Most Valuable Player of the American League. In his entire career, he played 1.394 games and made a record of 331 home runs with runs batted in of 1,276. He had a batting average of .313, a lifetime high record. Nicknamed “Hammerin Hank”, he was a member of a number of Hall of Fames which includes the 1991 Jewish American Hall of Fame and the 1996 National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
