He started playing professionally in 1957 as part of the Milwaukee Braves who drafted him in the Major League Baseball amateur draft. Pizzaro is a left-handed batter and thrower who made his Major League Baseball debut on May 4, 1957 for the Milwaukee Braves. After his successful rookie career with the Braves, he went to play for the Chicago White Sox which he joined form 1961 to the 1966 season. In 1967, he signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates and spent two years with the team. He became part of the Boston Red Sox in 1968 and signed with the Cleveland Indians and the Oakland Athletics in 1969. Pizzaro spent the 1970 to 1973 season with the Chicago Cubs and then moved to the Houston Astros in 1973. His final season in the Major League Baseball was in 1974 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Among his notable performance in the majors was the 1975 World Series in which he became a champion and when he made his .555 winning percentage.
