Lloyd Waner Jerseys
Known as the Little Poison, Lloyd James Waner was a professional baseball player. He was born on March 16, 1906 in Harrah, Oklahoma. He was one of the smallest baseball players of his time. He and his brother Paul both played for the Pittsburgh Pirates . Waner debuted on April 12, 1927 and established a reputation of being a slap hitter. Before leaving the Pirates, he was included in the top ten of the MVP voting twice and joined the All- Star team once. He spent the years 1941, 1942, and 1944 in different teams such as the Boston Braves, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies , and Brooklyn Dodgers. He spent his final year playing baseball with the Pirates. His last game was on September 16, 1945. He and his brother Paul recorded the most hits by brothers. Waner was part of the Baseball hall of Fame class 1967 when he was elected by the Veteran's Committee. According to baseball analyst Bill James, Waner is one of the players who do not deserve to be a part of the Hall of Fame because he was a brother of a fellow inductee and his era tended to inflate the batting average. Waner died at the age of 76 on July 22, 1982 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
