Louis “Lou” Marquel Roe was an American basketball player in the National Basketball Association for the Detroit Pistons . He was the 30th chose of the Pistons in the second round of the NBA Draft in 1995, and only spent two years in the NBA. Roe played for the Pistons during the 1995-1996 season, while the subsequent year was played with the Golden State Warriors. Due the injuries, Roe saw limited playing time on the basketball court and remained on the injured reserve list. As a 6'7” forward position in college at the University of Massachusetts in 1995, it's significant to note his remarkable college basketball career, marking the obvious reasons why he would make a good selection to an NBA team. Some more famous names who went to UMass were Julius Erving, Tony Gaffney, and Marcus Camby . He was the first consensus All-American in the college's history, and was named A-10 Player of the Year, which is the college athletic division and operates mostly on the east coast of the United States. Roe was also the first player to be selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Tournament team four times, and was named Most Outstanding Player of the 1995 A-10 Tournament. He was the recipient of the A-10 Player of the Week award seven times, and holds the third highest scoring basketball player in the school's history. Roe almost came back to the NBA to play for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1999, but never materialized. His professional basketball career brought Roe to play for other the Continental Basketball Association in Rockford, Illinois to overseas basketball organizations in Spain, South Korea, and Italy.
