Mel Rojas was born on December 10, 1966 in Haina, Dominican Republic who played for 5 Majoy League Baseball teams before finally retiring. His most notable performances were in 1992 while playing for the Montreal Expos where he showed impressive statistics in pitching. He first began his MLB career with the Montreal Expos in 1990 up until 1996, and had a short-term return with the team again in 1999. He played for the Chicago Cubs in 1997 when he was traded for Brian McRae and Turk Wendell. The New York Mets was Rojas' next stop in the 1997 and 1998 seasons, having been traded for Bobby Bonilla . Finally, Rojas spent almost half his time between two teams in 1999, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Detroit Tigers. On May 11, 1994 Rojas unbelievably struck out three batters on nine pitches in the ninth inning of 4-3 win over the New York Mets. He became the 19th National League Pitcher and the 28th Pitcher in the Major League history to perform a nine-strike/three strike-out half-innning, joining the likes of Rich Harden , Felix Hernandez, and A.J.
