Philip Alan Plantier is a retired professional baseball player who hails from Manchester, New Hampshire. He entered the Major League Baseball in 1987 as an 11th round selection of the Boston Red Sox in the amateur draft that was held that year. After his draft, he went on to play in the minor leagues where he constantly hit home runs and immediately went on to the majors even without gong through the Double-A. His first season in the Major League Baseball was in 1991 for the Boston Red Sox. He was named as Rookie of the Year in his first season in the majors, with a record of 11 home runs in 53 games appearances. He posted .331 batting average and 35 runs batted in. However, reviews say Plantier was short in repeating such wonderful performance as a rookie and soon was traded to the San Diego Padres. Sources say his greatest season came in 1993 when he served 34 home runs and made an amazing 100 runs batted in. in 1996, he signed with the Detroit Tigers and also signed with the Oakland Athletics that year. In 1997, he signed with both the St. Louis Cardinals and the San Diego Padres. His last team in the major league was the Toronto Blue Jays which he signed in 1998.
