Preacher Roe Jerseys
Elwin Charles Roe, also known as Preacher Roe, was a Major League Baseball Pitcher for three baseball major league teams. He played for namely the St. Louis Cardinals in 1938, the Pittsburg Pirates which lasted for about three years from 1944-1947, and the Brooklyn Dodgers where he remained for 6 years from 1948-1954. He was born on February 26, 1916 in Ash Flat Arkansas, and was raised in Viola. In 1938, St. Louis Cardinals signed him and he pitched one game for the team. Because of his meager performance on the field, he spent the next five seasons in the minor league division for the Cardinals before he was turned over to the Pittsburg Pirates on September 30, 1943 for money, along with Johnny Podgajny and an outfielder. During the time with the Pirates, the 1945 season led him to the National League and chosen him for All-Star Game, but unfortunately he did not play due to injuries. During a high school basketball game which Roe coahced, he had fractured his skull while in a fight with the referee. His pitching career worsen in the following seasons finishing with less than average statistics. The Brooklyn Dodgers got Roe in December of 1947, where he had better success compared to when he was with the Pirates, with his health improved. Roe finished in 1948 with victory records, and remained with the team six more seasons. Help your kids build up their collection with MLB trading cards.
