Roderick Dwayne Higgins, often called Rod Higgins, is a former National Basketball Association player who was born on January 31, 1960. He came from Monroe, Louisiana and is a graduate of California State University, Fresno. Listed at 6 ft. 7 in., he played as a forward and a center for a number of National Basketball Association teams which include the Chicago Bulls, the New Jersey Nets and the Seattle Supersonics. He also became a member of the San Antonio Spurs and the Sacramento Kings. During his playing career, he posted an average of 9 points per game with a rebound average of 3.6 per game. Higgins was also a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He became the assistant coach of the Golden State Warriors, which he also played for, after retiring from his playing career. He stayed as the assistant coach of the team until 2000 when he became Washington Wizards' assistant general manager. On May 20, 2004, he worked for the Golden State Warriors again as part of the front office. Currently, Higgins is the general manager of the Charlotte Bobcats. He was hired by the Bobcats on May 31, 2007, replacing Bernie Bickerstaff who is the former general manager of the team.
